Gates Ministry is dedicated to promoting peace and unity in the church throughout the world. At its core it advocates cooperation among all Christians and a commitment to unity of action, which leads to the full unity of faith as advocated in Pope John Paul II’s Ut Unum Sint. It specifically celebrates our unity in Christ, while inviting respect for the differences among the various Christian denominations. It does this by serving people of all faiths in the New Bern, North Carolina area and throughout the country in the greater church comprised of its many denominations. Its mission is to promote personal health and wholeness, and to improve conflicted relationships, particularly within families and faith communities. We are particularly committed to the care and support of pastors and their families as part of our vision of a healthy, united church. We especially hope to promote deeper unity in the local Christian community, while providing much needed care to those without the resources to live with dignity. We also serve those who wish to keep Jesus at the center of their care. We work toward our goal through preaching, teaching, specialized pastoral care, retreats, workshops and consulting.

As a part of our commitment to the health of the greater church throughout the world, we are available to encourage and support pastors and their families in the difficulties attendant to life in ministry. Consequently, we provide support to pastors and their spouses in our local area without cost. We also serve and provide counsel to pastors and their families throughout the country and the world.

In the local area, we offer support for individuals, marriages, and families. We offer a wide range of services to include formational counseling, spiritual direction, conflict resolution, transitional strategy and support, and retreats and workshops. At the national level, we are also available to guide conflicted congregations through conflict and transitional issues wherever they may be. Such congregations may contact us for the rates in helping them move through conflicts and transitions and for appropriate retreats and workshops. Gates Ministry offers consulting in all of the above areas as well.

We provide affordable support to individuals, couples, and families in need, especially those who do not have the financial resources or the medical insurance for the spiritual and emotional care they require and deserve. We provide services at a fixed rate per visit. We work on a sliding scale for individuals and communities who cannot afford to pay our standard rates. No one is refused support, because of his or her inability to pay.
